About Kevin Hertel

Kevin-96Kevin grew up in a family dedicated to public service and learned from a young age the importance of the being involved in his community. Growing up on the East side of Detroit, he attended St. Clare of Montefalco grade school. Later, as a student at Notre Dame High School in Harper Woods, he learned the value of strong leadership. While at Notre Dame, he became active in many areas including, athletics, student government, theatre and many volunteer opportunities.

Kevin attended Michigan State University where he studied Political Science. While attending MSU, he remained focused on the importance of staying involved in activities he believed in. In 2005, Kevin, along with students from each of Michigan’s 15 public universities, spearheaded an effort to advocate for an increase in higher education funding. As a college student, he remained active in the political process while helping to campaign for many local, state and national candidates. He also gained an understanding of how government should work for the citizens as he helped constituents as an intern for State Senator Deb Cherry.

In 2009, Kevin purchased his first home in St. Clair Shores and immediately became involved in the community. He is currently an active member of the St. Clair Shores Waterfront Environmental Committee, a volunteer for Macomb County Special Olympics. He serves on the Board of Directors for Macomb County Care House and has been involved in many volunteer activities in St. Clair Shores and Eastpointe.

Kevin and his wife, Ann, and their son William live in St. Clair Shores.
